The Paper Players #97

This is my first time playing along with the Paper Players. Sounds like fun and I've always wanted to give it a try. =) This is a relatively new stamp set to me. I mentioned in an earlier post about getting a stamp set that speaks to you right away and this is a good example why. I waited a couple of years to get this set and now it's retiring! =( Live and learn, right? Anyway back to the card. I took my color cues from the Color Coach when I looked up So Saffron. I used different greens because I thought different hues would be more interesting. We'll see how this goes!

Paper: Rose Red from the subtles dsp pack, Garden Green & Whisper White cs
Inks: Certainly Celery, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron and Chcolate Chip
Other: Scallop circle die, 3 inch punch, Whisper White taffeta ribbon (retired, I believe) and rhinestones

Birthday card for a 4 year old

This is going to be quick one. My friend at work asked me for a birthday card for a 4 year old girl that she needed today and this is what I came up with. It was after all a last minute request but I did get to make it and finish it in 15 minutes with what I had on hand in the office. Thank goodness for SU's starter set of inks (the tiny little set of ink cubes) and my one stamp set there. I did regret not having any glitter though. What little girl would not have loved some glitter!

Graduation Time!

It's graudation time again! I always struggle with these cards mostly because I don't really have a good stamp set with classic images but I did see a card on Pinterest and so cased it. The school colors are forest green and gold. I am wondering if this is enough gold and if the green is forest-y enough =).

The stamped Happy Graduation image is retired from Stampin Up but I think it's such a classic. For the grad hat I used a 1-3/8" square punch and layered it with a 1 1/4 in. square. I think graduation time is the only time I use SU's brushed gold paper. To me it's the nicest brushed gold paper out there because it has a beautiful warm tone. The tie is made from Certainly Celery satin ribbon and glue dotted on. The card stock is basic black and Garden Green. On top of the cap I used SU's glitter brad and shredded a black grosgrain ribbon for the tassel. You gotta love the new SU Framelits!

I Love Pinterest!

Don't you just LOVE Pinterest!!??!! I do!!! This was inspired by a couple of things we saw on Pinterest. My dear daughter made these for my grandson's teachers. He has three teachers and aides all together so she made three of these. I just made the tags for them.

They're just regular 6 inch clay pots, I bought the paint from Lowe's - you can buy the little 8 oz. cans for under $3. in a satin finish. The black is Tuxedo and I cannot remember what the yellow is but it was almost a mustard yellow. She used a sharpie for the lines and numbers. For the "Thank you for helping me grow" she used white out. Cute, cute, cute!

Beary Best Friends Birthday Card

My daughter reminded me tonight that she requested a card suitable for a one year old's birthday and she needed it this Saturday. I had completely forgotten her request but luckily I had this extra card in the car. Hahah! I mean come on, who really has extra cards in their car? Anyway, this fit the bill perfectly!

This card has lots of retired and retiring items. See that strip of green behind the scallop circle? Remember when SU had the Princess party set? I cut the green section from the invitation card. I am pretty sure the sentiment is retired but have no idea which stamp set it's from.

Sorry for the poor quality of the picture but I didn't have my camera and so it was taken with my iPhone (in a Chinese restaurant). Lol!

Blossom Punch Post It Notes!

These post it note holders with pen are always a great hit with the teachers or just about anyone! They are cute and quick to make!

Below are the cutting instructions for the Post it note holder:

Start off with a card stock 7-3/8 x 3-1/4

Score with the long side on the top at 3-1/8, 3-1/2, 3-7/8

Tip: If making multiples, score one 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of CS before cutting to get 3 holders instead of scoring them individually.

Fold on score lines. After folding, make sure your top is the shorter side. See the CS holding the pen? I snipped it at about 3/4" - 1" wide.

Teacher Cards and Tags!

My dear daughter asked me yesterday for "teacher" gift tags to hold gift cards for my grandson's teachers. Not six like I originally thought but thirteen. Thirteen!! Holy cow! So I had to get moving. I saw a wonderful idea here on Pinterest http://craftygrl.blogspot.com/2012/04/wonderful-teacher-card.html a while ago and this was the perfect occasion to case it. Happily I got all thirteen done in about 2 and a half hours. But then I remembered she said "tags" so this morning I got up made the tags in the bottom picture using an older stamp set I love and can't part with. Oh, did you notice the tape ruler on the cards? Don't you love it? It's twill ribbon I purchased from Etsy here http://www.etsy.com/listing/79975121/black-and-cream-cotton-measuring-tape It's so cute, I think I need to order more.

Post It Notes Teachers' Gifts

Here's more teacher gift ideas. With grandkids I'm always looking for things for their teachers and this was perfect! These are post-it note holders with a little mini pen. I just packaged it, added a tag and poof! you have yourself a teacher's gift ready for the little ones to share with their favorite teachers.

Teacher Appreciation Day

Teacher appreciation day is today! My grandsons have the most wonderful group of teachers so my daughters asked me to make something for their teachers. I used the Stampin Up set From Your Teacher which I received free from Sellabration and have been dying to use because I think the bus is so cute and paired it with another stamp set I've had for a while for the tag. The sentiment is from the retired stamp set Three Little Words. I then packaged it up in a tin that I've had for a while with wrapped Hershey Nuggets and notecards with little envelopes. The dsp is retired Playdate.
