Just for fun I'm again playing along with the Getting Crafty challenge GCSE4 which features cherry blossoms. I thought the set Easter Blossoms was fitting for this challenge. Card Swap

My Upline had our monthly inspiration night get together and a swap that we could participate in. I love to swap cards! You always get such lovely cards in return. There's always a theme which makes it fun. This time the theme was that your card or 3D item had to have a technique so I found this card by Becky Roberts here http://www.inkingidaho.blogspot.com/2011/02/fun-flowers-magazine-holder.html and decided to case it. My technique was embossing the card stock and then stamping over it on the debossed side. I made 20 cards, swapped 19 cards and kept one for myself.

BFF Card

Does this happen to you? You say to yourself I'd remember that person's name if someone says it. That is SO me. I saw the cutest purse on the web. (The website escapes me now but I'd know it if you said the name. Ha!) Anyway, I thought it would make it into the cutest card because I loved the colors and design so I cased the elements into a card without changing a thing.

Covered Composition Book

A friend at work requested a covered composition book with pink zebra stripes so this is what I came up with. I'm so grateful she has so much patience because she asked for this back in 2011! =) Stampin Up does not have any zebra print dsp so I used duck tape with a zebra design. Cute, eh? Sorry for the photo quality but it was taken with my iPad - a tad bright don't you think?

GCSE3 - Shake it Up! Card

Here is my entry for GCSE3 - Shake it Up! card. I found a tutorial by Cristena Bagne here http://www.gettincrafty.com/ and decided that I wanted to play along. Can you see the beads through the framelit opening? The next time I make this I would probably add some pearls and maybe a little spritz of smooch. It is very pretty in person though and I am very happy how it turned out. I hope you like it too!

Update: I retook the picture since the first one was crooked. A little washed out don't you think?

Here's a tip: Buy the stampset that speaks to you as soon as you possibly can. You will get the most use out of it and not regret it. I'd been eyeing up this set since it came out and finally bought it and have never been happier! =)

Framed Bible Verse for the Grandkids

I saw the the most beautiful framed bible verse on Connie Collins' blog here http://www.constantlystamping.com/constantly_stamping/bible-verses/

and had to make one for the grandkids. Connie has a free download on her blog and I used what I had in digital studio to make it 8x11 inches. I then grabbed a picture frame that I had and removed the glass and inserted the picture. Then punched out some flowers, added some pearls and voila! There you have it!

Outlined Occasions Birthday Card

 

I've seen a couple of versions of this card on the web and decided that since I had the stamps and punches I'd go ahead and give it a try. This card was a lot of work but I think it turned out pretty cute. Cute is a word I use much too often but oh well!

Oldies but Goodies Easter Ideas

I didn't have anything recent for Easter to share with you so thought I'd share what I made last year. The first uses the milk carton die and the second uses the fancy favor die (using retired dsp). Yes, I usually mass produce for my three grandkids and the kids of a couple of friends at work. Quality coloring does not happen at this point =). A Good Egg is now retired but you can certainly use one of the newer Easter sets!... I did save that set because I think it's so cute! 

The glittery lambs are from the stampset Little Lambs which might be retired and the Happy Easter sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration for your Easter crafting... it's all about the kids!

Lunch Sack Gift Purse

 

I found a cute little idea while on the web last night. It's very simple and great for using up all the retired dsp I have lying around.  All you need to do is take a little lunch bag and cut it down to the height that looks good. This one is cut down to 2-1/2 in. high.

Here's the instructions:

Measure your bag width and cut your dsp 1/4 in. wider than the width. My bag is 3-1/2 in. x 2-1/2 in. so my dsp is cut at 3-3/4 in. wide. You will need a length long enough for the front of your bag and enough for your back and a flap to go over the front plus the 1/4 in. as well as a coordinating strip to layer on the front flap.  Cut and score your dsp where you want your flap. Punch holes close to the top back and add a piece of ribbon for the purse handle and tape it down with regular tape before adhering your brown bag to the dsp. Have I lost you yet?.. I hope not. Using snail adhere the flat side of the bag to the longer piece of dsp. Now get the bottom of the brown bag and fold it down, in half so it looks like the second picture (see the mountain fold?). Add your front dsp aligning it with the back dsp. Adhere your coordinating dsp strip to the front, velcro and decorate as desired. Be sure to add the decor to the top flap only. I used one dimensional to hold it in place. 

This purse opens up pretty wide so you'll have lots of room for goodies!.... a gift card and a maybe some chocolates or for a darling little girl's present! Leave me a message in the comment section if you have additional quesitons.

I may remake this one with cardstock and layer with dsp as I feel that just dsp is a bit flimsy at the corners. We'll see though!!

Kids Cards - I Dig You and Look Who's Turning

I hope you're enjoying your Sunday.  I sure am!
My sister requested some kids' birthday cards so I finally got to make these two cards earlier this week that I have been on my "I Want to Make This" list.  The card on the left is cased completely from Heather Summers here http://stampwithheather.typepad.com/stamp_with_heather/3d-item/ (look for the Oct. 3, 2011 post). The card on the right is cased directly from this year's cattie on page 91. It was easy to make both because both bases are Old Olive cardstock and then some die shapes and punches are leftover from previous projects. Cute, eh? Love the colors!

Cardstock and ink colors: Old Olive, Real Red, Rich Razzelberry, Island Indigo, Basic Gray, Whisper White.
Accesories: Two Tags Die, Top Note Die, 2-1/2" punch, Extra Large Scallop punch, brads, Island Indigo Ruffled ribbon, white bakers twine, paper crimper, stripes embossing folder and toothpick

With Love and Care Gift Set

My sister loves to receive the cards I make so I made her a set of sentiment free every day cards and a box to put them in back in January. In retrospect, I should have stamped both flowers on each card darker instead of stamping off. I wish I remembered the name of the website I cased this from. If you are reading this and you know where I saw it, please let me know. I'd like to give credit where it's due!

As I wrote the recipe I noticed that I do have a lot of retired items. YES! I HOARD badly! Then I buy this year's dsp close to the end of the SU year. I know when I finally use the papers they will also be retired. =( Go figure. Lol!!

It's Been a While!

I can't believe that I neglected my blog for a year and a half. My "first" new post is a popup cupcake purse that I saw here http://gettincraftytogo.weebly.com/basic-class-tutorials.html . When I saw it I knew I had to have it and knew exactly what I was going to use it for!  I made the popup cupcake purse for my daughter’s birthday. It looks complicated but the instructions make it very easy. The third picture shows it complete with a cupcake inside. As you can imagine, my daughter was very happy when mom showed up at her workplace with purse, cupcake and balloon! I also found a little matching platter of brownie bites (decorated with Disney princesses to match the cupcake) for her to share with her friends.
